It was attended by over 200 of the committee's members, with Deputy Minister of Education Pg Dato Seri Setia Dr Hj Mohammad Pg Hj Abd Rahman as the event's guest of honour, accompanied by Datin Hjh Alimah Muhd Taib.
Other important guests also included Mohd Reeda Malik, Vice President of the Brunei Australian Alumni Association.
Participating societies under BruONz include Brunei Student Society, Melbourne; Brunei Student Association of Western Australia, Perth; Brunei Student Society, Brisbane; Bruneians Around Sydney Society, Sydney, and Brunei Students Association, New Zealand.
The evening began with a welcoming speech from the President of Brunei Student Society, Melbourne, Faridah Dato Paduka Serbini.
This was followed by "Cabuk-Cabuk Betali Rambai" as sung by Amal Liyana Hj Mohd Yassin from Brunei Student Society, Melbourne, as well as other stage performances by students from Perth, Brisbane, New Zealand, Sydney and Melbourne. Lucky draws were also held throughout the function.
Formed just last year, BruONz's committee aims to foster and strengthen ties among Bruneian students, as well as for awareness of a student support system in the Australasian region.
