BruONZ 2012 -News report BB


Bandar Seri Begawan - Over 90 guests attended last night's BruONZ Gala Dinner, which drew the BruONZ Summer Games to a close. The night began with a recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah, before continuing with welcoming remarks from BruONZ President, Shazrinah Shazali.
Guest of honour, Madeline Chmura, the Second - Secretary of the Australian High Commission to Brunei Darussalam, also spoke at the event, and acknowledged the positive relations between the two nations and the increasing numbers of Bruneian students based in Australia.
Students from New Zealand and Australia also performed musical and dance acts at the event in the build-up to the prize presentation and announcement of the overall winners of the BruONZ Summer Games.
Brisbane claimed gold in mixed and men's doubles in Badminton, with Sydney, Melbourne and New Zealand winning the women's doubles, men's singles and women's singles categories respectively.
In the Games' Futsal competition, Perth 1 claimed the gold medal, with Sydney B's Mohd Syafiq Haji Kassim nominated as the tournament's MVP with six goals in total. Elsewhere, Melbourne beat off stern competition to be awarded gold medal in the Basketball event, with Elwin Chong of Melbourne claiming the MVP award.
To round off the sports awards, New Zealand was awarded first place in Netball, with Dk Azzah Pg Metussin being nominated as the MVP, and were overall winners of the Games and claimed the BruONZ State Champion Cup Trophy 2012.

BruONZ 2012 Gala Night

BruONZ Basketball Results

Congratulations to the winning teams and to all participants for your support and encouragement in the BruONZ Basketball Summer Games 2012. Here are the results on the games:

Gold Medal: Melbourne
Silver Medal: Perth
Bronze Medal: Brisbane

(side info): BruONZ Basketball Summer Games 2012 was held at the BBA Basketball court situated at the Batu Bersurat on the 8th January 2012, Sunday. There were 5 teams participated among University Students across Australia and New Zealand.

BruONZ Netball and Futsal Results

Congratulations to the winning team for BruONZ Netball Summer Games 2012 and thank you to all participants for your support. Here are the results of Finals with the scores:

Gold Medal is won by Kiwis team from New Zealand with a score of 13 against Wahine team from New Zealand with a score of 3.

Hereby putting the Wahine team from New Zealand for the Silver Medal.

Bronze Medal is won by Peri-Winkle team from Brisbane and Melbourne with a score of 12 against a score of 9 by Sydney team.

(side info): BruONZ Netball was held on the 7th January 2012 at Sg. Kebun Sports Complex among 4 teams comprising of university students from Australia and New Zealand. There was a total of 6 games played by each team, with official Netball Umpires.


Congratulations as well to the winning team for BruONZ Futsal Summer games 2012 and thank you to all participants who came and supported the event. Here are the results for the game:

Gold Medal: Perth 1
Silver Medal: Perth 2
Bronze Medal: Sydney 2

(side info): BruONZ Futsal was held concurrently on the same day as BruONZ Netball at Sg. Kebun Sports Complex among 6 teams comprising of university students from Australia and New Zealand.

(UPDATE ON BASKETBALL RULES) Rules and Regulations on Sports

There are 4 sports being held on 3 different days.

Basketball

  • Round Robin
  • Each game a total of 30 mins
  • 10 mins half
  • 3 minutes interval, 1 time-outs per half
  • clock non-stop, except for timeouts and free throw
  • Max Players: 10
  • Registration fee: $50 per team


Futsal

  • Each game a total of 15 mins
  • 7 minutes half
  • 2 minutes interval
  • Max Players: 8
  • Registration Fee: $40 per team


Netball

  • Each game a total of 15 minutes
  • 7 minutes half
  • 2 minutes interval
  • Max Players: 10
  • Registration Fee: $50 per team

Categories:

  • Men's Double
  • Women's Double
  • Men's Single
  • Women's Single
  • Mixed Double

Registration fee

  • $5 per person
  • $8 per person if joins 2 categories
  • $12 per person if joins 3 categories
